Study of Industrial Growth and Structural Change at HSIP in Taiwan

Science Parks provide an environment that incubates high technology industry. As such, the Hsinchu Science-based industrial Park (HSIP) has been promoting region’s growth and integrating related industries, resulting in the increase in the nation’s competitiveness. Using Entropy, Moore’s measuring techniques, the structure changes of human resources, sales, paid-in capital, and employees of six category of high technology industry at Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park in Taiwan are investigated. This study aims to examine the growth and structural changes of high-technology industry at HSIP during the period 1984-2001. This study offers an important reference for setting up the nation’s research policy.
